It is Newcastle United up against Liverpool on Monday.

Something that has been a bit of an afterthought in the war of words, is now looming large.

Only five days to go until Liverpool come to St James’ Park.

A night where we are guaranteed two things,

Firstly, Alexander Isak won’t be on the pitch (for either team…).

Secondly, the atmosphere is going to be absolutely mental.

You know when Sky Sports say pretty much every match how this is going to be this and that, ‘super’ whatever, a cauldron of hate/desire, well this is the real thing.

I can’t wait.

It is up to the Newcastle United players to harness this in the right way. To take the occasion and that atmosphere, then use it as a massive positive.

I look at how Eddie Howe prepared his team for Wembley, he got it so so right against Liverpool.

Not only did Newcastle United deservedly win BUT they did it whilst dominating the game throughout. Liverpool lucky not to lose by three or four.

The Newcastle United starting eleven at Wembley in May was:

Pope, Trippier, Burn, Schar, Livramento, Tonali, Bruno,, Joelinton, Barnes, Murphy, Isak

Nine of those eleven players are set to play on Monday night and those nine also put in an excellent opening day of the season performance at Aston Villa. Dominating all the stats, Pope not a serious save to make the shot count 16 v 3 in Newcastle’s favour, just not taking our chances.

Anthony Elanga and Anthony Gordon the two other players in the team on Saturday and surely set to be same again on Monday.

With home advantage, why should an absent Alexander Isak (and Jacob Murphy on the bench) prevent Newcastle United taking all three points?

Interesting to look at what the bench was at Wembley as well:

Dubravka, Targett, Krafth, Willock, Longstaff, Miley, Wilson, Osula, Neave

On Monday night, we should see that matchday squad added to by Ramsdale, Hall, Botman, Ramsey, Thiaw…

Liverpool fans are already saying that Arne Slot will need to protect fragile new signings such as Florian Wirtz from what awaits at St James’ Park on and off the pitch, the atmosphere our Brazilian blondes Bruno and Joelinton…
