Newcastle open negotiations to agree personal terms for Sesko

Newcastle United have entered into negotiations with Benjamin Sesko’s agents (h/t journalist Philipp Hinze).
They are working on a deal on the player side before turning their attention to RB Leipzig to negotiate a fee. Die Roten Bullen want €80 million.
The Magpies have struggled in the summer transfer window, failing to sign Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Mohammed Kudus.
Brentford have refused to let Yoanne Wissa move to St James’ Park despite the player pushing for the transfer.
To make matters worse, Newcastle are in a bind with Alexander Isak asking to leave the club. The Magpies are bracing for a bid from Liverpool for the Swedish ace.
Newcastle have now turned to Sesko, who netted 21 goals for Leipzig last term.
Hailed as a ‘special player with a special profile’ by former Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell, the highly rated Slovenian has been tipped for big things.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were linked with him, but Newcastle are pushing hard to get a deal over the line.
Newcastle will be watching over their shoulder for Man United. The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-forward.
With a top-six rival circling and their striker situation in disarray, Newcastle cannot afford another high-profile miss.
After watching target after target fall through, this is a line the club must cross to bolster Eddie Howe’s options and to send a message of ambition.
