Newcastle ‘exploring other avenues’ to plug £30m PSR gap | OneFootball

Newcastle United are exploring other avenues in a bid to find the £30m required to avoid breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The Magpies need to raise funds before the June 30 deadline for the 2023-24 financial accounts, though there is some leeway and ‘near miss’ business past this date can still be declared.

Yankuba Minteh is one player who could depart and is valued at around £40m at St James’ Park, though the teenager has turned down a transfer to Lyon.

Everton are hoping to revive talks for the Gambia winger after talks around a potential swap deal involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin broke down over Everton’s valuation of the forward.

The Toffees still hope to sign Minteh, who is keen to remain in the Premier League, though have PSR issues of their own.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Newcastle need to raise £30m to remain compliant and Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron are other options to leave St James’ Park.

Each have attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, while Wilson also has offers from the Premier League and MLS.

However, player sales is not the only avenue Newcastle are exploring. beIN Sports presenter Andy Kerr has said the Magpies have already agreed one brand deal and are exhausting their options in a bid to beat the deadline.
