Milan could complete four major operations during the early June window, as Luka Modric is inches away from joining, Tijjani Reijnders is about to depart, and Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez are being courted by top European sides, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Rossoneri are in pole position for the Croat. Director Igli Tare paid a visit to his national team’s setup to accelerate the talks. The 39-year-old could soon ink a one-year contract with a €3/3.5M salary.
In the Milan plans, Modric would be the first piece to try replacing Tijjani Reijnders, while the situations related to Maignan and Hernandez are in progress. The negotiation with Manchester City has been finalized. The final fee will be €75M, including add-ons. The Sky Blues had started from €55M. The Dutchman will double his wages, making at least €7M annually.
The Rossoneri have concurred with Al-Hilal on the French fullback’s price tag, €30/35M, but he hasn’t accepted the destination. Atletico Madrid have tested the waters, offering Nahuel Molina in the package.
Instead, Chelsea have tendered €15M plus add-ons for the goalie, Alfredo Pedullà informs. The valuation is about €10M higher, and Massimiliano Allegri would rather keep him. The deal requires more time and different conditions to come together.
Things are certainly moving at an unprecedented pace relative to what they were accustomed to. Nothing wrong with taking a flyer on the Croat maestro, as long as he’s not the only acquisition in the midfield. They could try to reel in the shot-stopper with an improved offer on personal terms, but it doesn’t seem likely given the previous back-and-forth. Having new head honchos could help there.
