Michael Owen has kindly given us all his thoughts about Alexander Isak, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Don’t worry, you won’t need to prepare yourself for any shocks, any surprises, when it comes to what he has to say.
With very rare exceptions, whenever Michael Owen is talking about anything, especially Newcastle United, I know for sure I will disagree with whatever he comes out with.
The only thing in Keys’ favour is that he was never on the Newcastle United payroll, unlike Michael Owen.
Owen is the worst ever person to (occasionally) play for Newcastle United in my lifetime.
So when Michael Owen gives Alexander Isak the big thumbs up for going on strike and sees nothing wrong with the shameful way Liverpool have acted in trying to get Isak on the cheap, it is simply exactly what I would have expected from him.
Michael Owen asked by 247Bet what he thinks about Alexander Isak, Liverpool and Newcastle United, what does he make of the situation?:
‘It’s been really fascinating watching it unfold.
Isak stayed very quiet despite everybody talking like he’s done 100 statements; that’s the first thing he’s said. It’s nice for the public to have everything clarified.
It’s interesting that he makes out that they’ve already had talks a long time ago about him potentially leaving, and he feels that they’ve gone back on their word.
He’s given them great service, they’ve qualified for the Champions League, won a trophy, but he wants out.
I get it from a footballer’s point of view, you only get one short career, you want to play for the best teams, and this might be his one big chance to do so, but obviously Newcastle hold the aces, they’ve got him under contract.
Sadly, if you’re going to force a move, then it’s not pretty; the actions that a player takes can’t be pretty, and that’s what we’re seeing. Whether he puts in a transfer request or refuses to play, which is obviously the end of the scale, there’s not much worse you can do than that, to refuse to come in.
He’s playing all his cards, but Newcastle hold all the aces.
He’s doing everything he can to force that dream move, and I hear it, I understand it, but I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I also don’t sit here and say that no other footballer would do that, of course, they would.
There are loads of pundits out there who are up and arms about what’s happening, but I can guarantee that they’d be doing the same. This is one short career, it’s not like he came through the ranks, it’s not like he’s a born and bred Geordie. He is basically trying to be as good a player as he can be in a short career, and if that means forcing a move to probably the best team in the world, then I get why he’s doing it.
I just look at the alternative, and nobody says a word nine times out of ten when clubs force a player out against their will, the reality is that happens all the time; the clubs do all the dirty stuff.’
Michael Owen declaring how great is is to now have ‘everything clarified’ by Alexander Isak and how this is the first time Isak has gone public with anything this summer.
Owen completely ignoring the fact that Newcastle United’s statement stated categorically that there has never been any promise that Alexander Isak could leave this summer.
The first time Alexander Isak has ‘said’ anything?
Well, when you hide behind a laughable excuse for an agent who has constantly fed inflammatory nonsense to the media for weeks and weeks, you don’t apparently have any need to say anything yourself. Whilst refusing to train and play for the club and fans who pay your wages, I think that very much ‘says’ everything.
