“First and foremost, I just want to help my teammates at all times. Don’t look too far ahead. Training session by training session, continuously trying to improve and giving my utmost best for the team,” McTominay told DAZN.

“We have a great squad of players from whom I can learn and pass on my experience as well.”

Today’s win allowed Napoli to return to the top of the table, but McTominay reiterated that he and his teammates are not thinking about the Serie A title.

“The squad’s mentality is the next game,” he said.

“To be honest, we are not looking too much further than that. We try really hard, we work a lot, and we want to improve game by game. You can’t look too far ahead in football because things can change very quickly. The squad mentality is to win, and I see winners for sure, but we are not looking too far ahead. We listen to the coach and his ideas and the coaching staff, pushing to do our best at all times.”

Which opponent has impressed him the most so far?

“The ligue, in general, has impressed me a lot. It’s not surprising, but it has impressed me a lot,” he admitted.

“Inter, Milan, and Juventus are the top teams. Roma as well. They are difficult to play against. They are top teams, but we are also giving our best.”

The 27-year-old gave the full interview in English, but he’s also making progress in Italian.

“It’s improving. For now, I can order a ‘Caffe Americano, per favore,” he concluded, smiling.
