Manchester United are hopeful of having Bruno Fernandes back for their Premier League meeting with Newcastle on Wednesday.
The midfielder trained before Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal but was not quite ready in time to feature.
“Bruno trained for two days but wasn't far enough [along] to recover from his injury and make the team,” said manager Erik ten Hag before the loss to the Gunners.
Amad Diallo impressed on Sunday but was forced off with injury, although he confirmed after the game that he was “fine”.
Marcus Rashford may also be involved too but Ten Hag remains without a host of key players.
None of Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount of Anthony Martial will feature.
Lisandro Martinez has returned to training but seems unlikely to be risked, particularly with fellow defender Willy Kambwala available again.
Man Utd predicted XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Kambwala, Casemiro; Dalot, Amrabat, Mainoo, McTominay; Amad, Hojlund, Garnacho
Doubts: Fernandes, Rashford, Martinez
Injured: Maguire, Varane, Shaw, Mount, Martial, Malacia
Time and date: 8pm BST on Wednesday 15 May, 2024
