In a recent report, UOL mentioned that Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on Botafogo keeper John Victor. It has been stated that the Red Devils are showing interest in recruiting the Brazilian goalie this summer.

Victor’s Impressive Form In Brazilian Football

Victor has enjoyed a solid career at the Brazilian club after he put in a lot of impressive displays for them over the past couple of years. The 29-year-old has conceded 66 goals and earned 32 clean sheets in 79 matches for his current employers last season across various competitions.

The Brazilian sensation has proven his worth as a solid goalkeeper in the Brazilian Serie A. He was even tidy when distributing possession from the back after making 80.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Brazilian football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Botafogo will expire at the end of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man United to snap him up on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Get Victor On Board?

Victor can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team.

The Brazilian talent is a good distributor of the ball as well. Standing at 1.97m, he is a strong presence in the air as well and doesn’t hesitate to come out to collect crosses and loose balls inside his penalty area.

We can expect Victor to bring more quality to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s backline. He has what it takes to compete with Andre Onana for a regular starting place at the Premier League club in the coming seasons. The Brazilian would also be an upgrade over Altay Bayindir, who struggled to impress with his performances for the Red Devils last season.
