Paris Saint-Germain and Italy international goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has emerged as a potential transfer target for Manchester City this summer.

City announced their first summer signing as Rayan Ait-Nouri penned a five-year contract to join forces with Pep Guardiola in an initial £31.7 million move from Wolves. Tijjani Reijnders passed a medical in Manchester at the weekend and is expected to be unveiled on Tuesday.

The Club have also reached a full agreement with Lyon for France international Rayan Cherki, who will complete a medical on Tuesday and sign a five-year contract, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the 2029/30 season.

It went from busy to busier for Manchester City on Monday as the club also reached an agreement with Chelsea to add Marcus Bettinelli to their ranks as back-up to Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno, after confirming Scott Carson will be leaving the club this summer.

Manchester City could have more than one fresh face in goal when they begin the 2025/26 Premier League campaign in August as uncertainty looms for both Ederson and Stefan Ortega Moreno.

Ederson wanted to leave for Saudi Arabia last summer but a transfer failed to materialise owing to Manchester City’s valuation of the Brazil international – understood to be around £50 million – not being met by any suitors.

Like Ederson, Ortega Moreno is also entering the final 12 months of his current deal at the Etihad and while on international duty in March, the German refused to rule out a possible departure from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola has maintained that he expects both goalkeepers stay put but with the pair in the final year of their respective contracts, it remains to be seen whether Manchester City could be tempted to cash in if an offer is tabled that is too good to turn down.

According to the information of L’Equipe, both Manchester United and Manchester City have expressed interest in PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma – described as being ‘two tempting destinations’ for the goalkeeper.

It is claimed that the Italy international has in fact spoken about the possibility of a move to England and the Premier League with some of his national side teammates over the course of the last few days.

PSG and Donnarumma have hit an impasse in contract talks and it is appearing more likely with every passing week that the Italy number one could look for a new challenge – if the recently crowned UEFA Champions League winners fail to meet his financial expectations.

Meanwhile, it is worth watching for offers made for Ederson and Ortega Moreno – both of whom struggled with form at points last season – as it is quite unlike City to allow key players to enter the final year of contract when there has been little information on renewal talks.
