Manchester City are being linked with a double bid to sign AC Milan duo Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders.
Pep Guardiola is set to rebuild his squad in the summer transfer window following a disappointing defence of the Premier League title. City are 18 points adrift of leaders Liverpool, having played a game more. The Blues face a fight to secure Champions League qualification as things stand.
High on the list of priorities for City is the signing of a new left-back. Josko Gvardiol’s long-term future is seen as a centre-back and a left-back is being sought, despite the emergence of Nico O’Reilly.
Theo Hernandez is a player of interest to the Citizens, with the Frenchman recognised as one of the world’s leading left-backs.
Hernandez has been named in the Serie A Team of the Season four times during his time at AC Milan and will enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer. Real Madrid have also been linked with re-signing their former player.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, City are also admirers of Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutch international has scored 10 goals and created three more from midfield for Milan in Serie A this season.
Reijjnders could emerge as a more cost-effective midfield signing than Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz or Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave the Etihad at the end of the season, while Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan are also expected to move on. Milan reportedly value the duo at a combined €100m (£86.8m).
