Manchester City join race to sign AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche | OneFootball

Whilst AS Monaco don’t have any plans on selling Maghnes Akliouche (22), the Principality club may find it difficult to retain their prized asset. According to Nice-Matin, Manchester City, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have all joined Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the France U21 international.

Akliouche has been one of the star performers in a Monaco side that secured a second-place finish in Ligue 1. As a result, Les Monégasques return to the UEFA Champions League and are therefore hopeful of keeping their squad together this summer. Akliouche, already linked with a move to PSG by L’Équipe, could prove one of the more difficult assets to retain, even if the club’s stance is clear.

“The priority is to keep Maghnes,” began Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro in a roundtable interview with Get French Football News. “There is Champions League in front of us, one more season can also be good for his development, I believe this but I don’t control everyone’s decisions. Things may change in the market depending on players’ desires but the plan is to keep Maghnes for at least one more season at Monaco,” he added.

However, Nice-Matin report that Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have now joined the race for the attacking midfielder, whose contract at the Principality club runs until 2026. Keeping Akliouche at the Stade Louis II may prove difficult.
