Manchester City have emerged as serious contenders in the race to sign Rodrygo, putting them in direct competition with Arsenal for the Real Madrid forward. The Brazilian attacker is expected to consider his future over the coming weeks and has already held discussions with the new manager at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Rodrygo is keen to compete for his place in Madrid’s starting line-up, yet the possibility of a significant bid from another club could tempt the Spanish giants to sanction his departure. While Arsenal had been linked with a loan move for the upcoming season, the feasibility of such an arrangement remains uncertain, and the Gunners now face increased competition for his signature.
According to Football London, Manchester City’s interest has intensified following developments in their own squad. The Premier League champions are currently in negotiations to sell Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur and have also lost Jack Grealish, creating a need to strengthen their attacking options. Rodrygo has reportedly been identified as a prime target to fill that gap.
A move to the Etihad Stadium could appeal to the winger, particularly if Pep Guardiola can offer him a more prominent role than he might enjoy in Madrid. Should City decide to act decisively, their financial power and recent success could give them a clear advantage over Arsenal in negotiations.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have already made substantial investments during the current transfer window. While their recruitment has strengthened the squad considerably, it has also limited the funds available for further major signings. With Rodrygo likely to command a significant transfer fee, the Gunners may find it challenging to compete financially if City push ahead with their pursuit.
The uncertainty over whether Madrid would agree to a loan deal further complicates matters for Arsenal. Without a clear path to securing the Brazilian’s services, the club may need to focus on maximising the potential of their existing attacking players, several of whom have already demonstrated they can perform at the highest level.
As the transfer window progresses, the outcome of Rodrygo’s situation will depend not only on Madrid’s willingness to sell but also on which suitor is prepared to meet the terms required to secure his signature.
