Christopher Nkunku’s future at Chelsea is becoming more uncertain as top European clubs express interest in the forward. According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the 27-year-old could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge as early as January, with his representatives exploring potential moves.
Since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £52 million in 2023, Nkunku has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup, fueling speculation about his next step.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Paris Saint-Germain is seriously considering a move to bring Nkunku back to Ligue 1, although no official bid has been made. Meanwhile, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayern Munich is pushing to sign the forward immediately.
Bayern Munich has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Nkunku on a long-term contract, with all terms settled. The forward is said to be keen on making the move to Bayern as soon as possible.

Recently, ESPN’s Rob Dawson reported that Manchester United and Chelsea are looking into a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho and Nkunku.
Amid the rumor, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Nkunku would be a “signing-and-a-half” for Manchester United, but he doesn’t quite get why Chelsea are interested in Garnacho.
“If I’m United, I’m dropping him off and picking up Nkunku. I am because he’s a good player. I mean, he’s just been unlucky at Chelsea because of Palmer, who has done unbelievably well. He just hasn’t gotten in the team. He’s done really well in that other squad in Europe. He’s a good player. Honestly, if Man United got him, they’d get a signing and a half.”
On Friday, Sky Sports News mentioned that Manchester United are eyeing the French forward as a possible target to strengthen their attack this January, but it’s a complicated move if the Red Devils are asked to pay a straight fee.
“Christopher Nkunku is a potential target for Manchester United in this window,” Michael Bridge said. “Talks are understood to have been held between intermediaries about a move. Chelsea do not want to sell Nkunku, but it is thought they would be tempted to do business for £70 million. He is a player United are considering, but they are unlikely to meet the £70 million figure.”
