Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was seen with an ice pack wrapped around his ankle after Sunday's 4-0 thrashing of Everton, fuelling fears he could miss the trip to Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Portugal international provided the assists for the Red Devils' first two goals against the Toffees, with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee later completing their braces as Ruben Amorim picked up his first win in the Premier League.

However, the new head coach has been rocked by a concerning injury update regarding Fernandes, who limped down the tunnel with only one boot on shortly after the full-time whistle.

United will hope the 30-year-old's fitness blow isn't too serious given they will definitely be without two key starting XI members in Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez, who have incurred one-match suspensions due to yellow card accumulation.

Fernandes has an incredible record when it comes to avoiding injuries, having only been forced to miss three United games since joining the club in 2020.

He has also rediscovered some of his best form since Erik ten Hag was sacked as manager. After a barren start to the season, the former Sporting CP star has five goals and four assists in his last eight appearances for club and country.

Amorim has already admitted Fernandes will play a large role during his spell at Old Trafford, even hinting he could play in a deeper midfield role in the future. However, he played just behind Zirkzee alongside Rashford on Sunday, with Mainoo and Casemiro operating in the middle of the park.

The most impressive United performer at the weekend, however, was arguably Amad Diallo, who set up both of their second-half strikes from right-wing-back.
