Last night, Manchester United finalised agreements to facilitate the exits of both Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

The attacking duo will bid farewell to Old Trafford much sooner than fans had envisioned after giving their green lights to a summer departure.

Unsurprisingly, Garnacho has finally sealed his desired switch to Chelsea, whom he’s been holding out to join since the start of the summer.

The Argentine was so adamant about joining the Blues that he rebuffed an approach from European giants Bayern Munich whilst informing United that he’d be willing to spend half the season waiting in the reserves if they blocked his move to Stamford Bridge.

From United’s point of view, they were never deterred by the fact that he wanted to join a direct Premier League rival, they just wanted to ensure they got their money’s worth for a player with 144 first-team appearances, 48 goal contributions and FA Cup and League Cup winners’ medals to his name at just 21 years old.

Chelsea entered the negotiations in hopes of United accepting a lowball offer of just £25 million. Yet, they have agreed to stump up a £40m fee, as well as agreeing a 10 per cent sell-on clause for the Reds.

As for his forward counterpart Hojlund, he is on the verge of signing for Napoli in a season-long loan, after which the club will be expected to honour a £40m buy obligation in the event they qualify for the Champions League.

Hojlund was encouraged to embark on a new venture in the aftermath of Benjamin Sesko’s arrival in M16.

Ruben Amorim made it clear to the Dane that if he did stay at United, he’d be playing a heavily reduced role – the complete opposite of what he’s grown accustomed to over the last year.
