Mike Maignan is already looking ahead after Milan’s huge win over Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Milan beat Real Madrid 3-1 last night but above the offensive performance, stood out the defensive game, with Mike Maignan in particular having a gigantic match, which also won him the UEFA Man of the Match award.
After the game, the goalkeeper had an interview in French with UEFA.com:
Mike, it’s a historic feat as it’s only the second time ever that Milan have won here. What do it feel like to be part of that game?“We knew it wasn’t a game like any other, as Milan and Real Madrid are the two most decorated clubs in Europe. It’s always a massive fixture, even though Milan haven’t won the Champions League for a while, whereas Real Madrid have won it several times recently. It’s a good and positive thing for us. We put in a thorough performance. That being said, it’s not an end in itself. We’re going to relish it tonight, but we know we have a tough game coming up on Saturday.”
Can you talk us through your manager’s instructions ahead of this game? To me, you played this game completely fearlessly…“We play all our games fearlessly, and that’s how they should be played. I won’t disclose his exact instructions [laughs], that stays between us. if the coach wants to reveal his game plan, he will, but we’re going to keep to ourselves what he said to us.”
