Liverpool get Newcastle incentive

The big news on Wednesday was the release of next season's Premier League fixture list. Liverpool haven't got it easy with their opening 10 games, facing several teams expecting to contend for European spots.

One of those is Newcastle United, who will certainly hear from Liverpool long before their meeting on August 23rd.

That's because the Reds want to sign at least one of their star players. Alexander Isak is the ultimate goal, while Anthony Gordon remains a target if he were to be available.

We're not sure Liverpool really needed extra incentive to get those deals done ASAP but they've got it anyway. Sign either of them before the August 23rd fixture and you almost certainly guarantee yourselves an easier matchup.

The only reason Newcastle will sell, after all, is to get a massive amount of money with which to retool their team. So not only do you make it so you're playing an Isak-less or Gordon-less Magpies but you also pretty much guarantee that their XI won't be fully gelled together.

It's an easy little benefit, then, to making sure any deal happens before the final week of the transfer window. Now, again, we imagine all parties would much prefer for any deal to happen long before then - but here's another way Liverpool can win by not letting any deal drag on for too long.
