Barcelona cruised to a 6-0 victory over Athletic Club on the day they lifted the Liga F trophy. As for Real Madrid, they were held to a 2-2 draw by relegated Valencia on the final day of the season.
Here, we will round up all the action from the final match-day of the 2024/25 Liga F season, which produced 40 goals across eight games.
Atlético celebrated their recent European qualification with a commanding victory over Levante Badalona. Tatiana Pinto scored the only goal of the first half, producing a downward header from Fiamma’s free-kick. Pinto went on to grab her second goal in the opening stages of the second period. The score remained 2-0 until Atleti netted three goals in four minutes in the closing stages of the contest. Luany showcased her nimble footwork to navigate her way past two defenders before blasting the ball into the roof of the net. Synne Jensen and Gabriela García then got on the scoresheet to cap off a sizeable victory. While Atleti finished in third spot, the visitors had to settle for a 13th-place finish.
Barcelona warmed up for the Women’s Champions League final with a dominant 6-0 Liga F win over Athletic Club. Aitana Bonmatí stroked the ball home from Salma Paralluelo’s low cross to open the scoring inside two minutes. Ewa Pajor then netted a brace to take Barcelona’s tally to three before the half-time interval.
Clàudia Pina followed in Pajor’s footsteps after the restart, scoring in the 74th and 89th minutes to seal a brace of her own. There was still time left for Esmee Brugts to get in on the act in stoppage time. The Netherlands international neatly created the space to guide a right-foot shot past Mariasun Quiñones.
As a result of the win, the champions finished with 84 points, 128 goals scored, and just 16 conceded. Pajor collected the Pichichi trophy after she finished as Liga F’s top scorer with 25 goals in 28 games. Goalkeeper Cata Coll won the Zamora trophy after conceding just 11 goals in 22 league appearances. The Barcelona players celebrated a successful day and another memorable Liga F season by lifting their sixth consecutive title in front of their fans at Estadi Johan Cruyff. Having won the Supercopa and Liga F, Barcelona will now prepare for the Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday, before they face Atlético Madrid in the Copa de la Reina final on June 7.
Costa Adeje Tenerife dismantled Real Sociedad in the first half to claim a comfortable 4-1 victory. Aleksandra Zaremba opened the scoring with a stunning long-range effort, before Sakina Ouzraoui headed in from a deep cross to make it two. María Pérez quickly added another to Tenerife’s tally, coolly lifting a bouncing ball over the goalkeeper to establish a 3-0 lead before the 20-minute mark. Pérez curled home an unstoppable shot in the 43rd minute to register a first-half brace. Real Sociedad’s Lucía Pardo pulled a goal back in the opening stages of the second period, but the goal ultimately failed to inspire a fightback. The win helped Tenerife leapfrog La Real into sixth spot, leaving their opponents to settle for seventh.
Relegated Betis experienced a disappointing end to a forgettable season. Amanda Mbadi lofted a long-range effort over Noelia Gil to open the scoring in the 14th minute. The visitors found a quick response through Rhiannon Roberts, who headed home from close range. However, Cristina Baudet restored Espanyol’s lead in the 29th minute, before the hosts took the game away from their opponents in the second period. Lice Chamorro sent an ambitious effort soaring into the top corner to make it three. Just moments later, Ángeles del Álamo slotted the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs, before Júlia Guerra took the tally to five. Tiffany Cameron reduced the arrears for Betis, but did little to lift the mood as Ángeles netted her second goal to complete a resounding 6-2 victory.
Levante required a solitary goal to see off fifth-placed Granada. In fact, the contest looked set to finish goalless until Levante scored a 92nd-minute winner. Paula Fernández pounced on a poor backpass to slide the ball past Andrea Romero. The result ended the visitors’ three-game winless run and condemned Granada to a third consecutive defeat.
Madrid CFF came out on top in Sunday’s seven-goal thriller with Deportivo. Núria Mendoza opened the scoring with an audacious strike from distance. The 29-year-old opted to let fly from a position level with the centre-circle, before seeing it beat the back-peddling Inês Pereira. Emilie Nautnes quickly doubled the advantage, poking the ball home from Aldana Cometti’s cross. After going into the break with a two-goal deficit, Dépor staged an impressive fightback to turn the game in their favour with phenomenal strikes.
Olaya Rodríguez produced an unstoppable free-kick to kickstart the comeback, Paula Gutiérrez produced a sublime effort from the edge of the box, curling the ball out of Belén de Gracia’s reach. Ana de Teresa then conjured up her own stunning strike to put Deportivo in front. However, just as Dépor thought they had won the game, Madrid CFF staged their own turnaround through Nautnes. The Norwegian prodded the ball past Pereira to restore parity at three goals apiece. The striker then pounced on a rebound to tap home the winning goal and complete her hat-trick in the process.
Esperanza Pizarro scored an early brace to get Eibar off to the perfect start. The forward tucked the ball home from Margherita Monnecchi’s deep cross. Just moments later, Pizarro steered her header past Esther Sullastres after she met Andrea Sierra’s inviting cross. After conceding two early goals, matters got worse for Sevilla when Nazareth Martín was sent off for fouling Monnecchi as the last defender. Patri Ojeda headed in a third in the 67th minute to effectively seal all three points for the visitors. Sevilla did at least score a late consolation through Natalia Padilla-Bidas, who netted a fifth goal in six games.
Relegated Valencia bowed out of Liga F with a comeback draw against Real Madrid. Alba Redondo nodded the ball in to give Las Blancas a sixth-minute lead on matchday 30. The former Levante striker doubled the advantage in the opening stages of the second half. However, Real Madrid saw their deficit cut in half when Laia López inadvertently knocked the ball into her own net from a corner. The hosts took advantage of another corner to level the scoreline in the 89th minute, as Anita Marcos drilled the ball home to ensure the spoils were shared. Real Madrid finished the campaign in second spot with 76 points to their name, while Valencia prop up the standings at the end of the season.
