Barcelona hammered Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last night.

The Catalan giants made their intentions clear from the outset, with Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski testing goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with dangerous strikes.

Raphinha broke the deadlock after tapping in Pau Cubarsi’s flick, extending his tally to 12 goals in the Champions League this season.

The Brazilian continued terrorising Dortmund’s vulnerable defence, setting up Lewandowski just after half-time.

Barca tore apart the visitors with every possible counter-attack, with Lewandowski scoring his second of the night in one such move. Fermin Lopez was the provider this time.

Yamal put the game to bed after firing his shot into the bottom left corner following yet another sublime cross from Raphinha.

The 17-year-old was a menace on the right flank, constantly unbalancing the Germans with his outstanding dribbling abilities, eye for dangerous passes and lethal finishing skills.

This masterclass performance will add to the Spaniard’s growing repertoire as one of the finest players in the world.

He has already bagged 14 goals and 21 assists for Barca this season. Lewandowski took his tally to 40 goals this season with his brace.

He is only one goal behind Raphinha in the Champions League top scorers list.

Raphinha has firmly established himself as the front-runner for the Ballon d’Or, having racked up 28 goals and 22 assists this term.

Hansi Flick’s side were solid defensively, with their trademark high-line and counter-pressing making life difficult for Dortmund.

The Catalan giants have seemingly put one foot in the semi-finals. They have failed to reach the last four since 2018/19.
