L’entusiasmante stagione negli Emirati: l’Al-Jazira è campione | OneFootball

Si è concluso, la scorsa settimana, il massimo campionato degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, portando con sé una classifica finale che nessuno si sarebbe aspettato (soprattutto quando scrissimo la guida ad inizio stagione).

26 giornate ricche di colpi di scena ed infatti la UAE Pro League ha spesso mutato la propria classifica in maniera radicale, sconvolgendo sia le ultime che le prime posizioni. Fino al mese di Marzo, la capolista era l’al Sharjah, team dell’omonimo emirato dove militano Igor Coronado, talento passato per la nostra Serie B ed il fantasista Caio, di proprietà del Benfica. Tutto questo sempre abbastanza a sorpresa visto che le candidate per il titolo vedevano, si, al Sharjah compreso, ma un gradino sotto le due squadre di Dubai (Shabab al-Ahli e al Nasr) che per come hanno svolto il loro mercato nel preseason hanno fatto entusiasmare tifosi e non, perché parlandoci chiaro vedere una squadra con un terminale offensivo composto da Cartabia, Masharipov, Heldon, il giovane Igor Jesus e completato dalla star Carlos Eduardo, ex al Hilal e campione di tutto in Asia può suscitare solo entusiasmo e poi se guardi dall’altra parte Ryan Mendes, Tozè con il tandem Dia Saba-Tagliabuè non sai sinceramente chi vinca il confronto. Non solo, tra le candidate vi era anche l’al Ain che riusci’ ad aggiudicarsi Shoya Nakajima, talento giapponese del Porto, ma che sfortunatamente avrà una pessima stagione come tutta la società.

Dal mese di Marzo in poi tutto un altro campionato: l’al Sharjah, dopo la brutta batosta per 3-0 in President Cup contro l’al Nasr, perse 4 partite su 6 e precipitò vertiginosamente, mentre con grande costanza scalarono la classifica due squadre inaspettate: l’al Jazira e il Baniyas. La prima collezionò solo due vittorie nelle prime cinque giornate, media che chi ha alte ambizioni non deve sicuramente tenere. Mentre il Baniyas faceva presagire qualcosa con tre vittorie nelle prime tre ed i big match portati a casa sconfiggendo Al Ain, al Sharjah e pareggiando a Dubai. Tutto questo ha poi subito una fase di assestamento terminata con la grande cavalcata delle ultime giornate: dal 4 Febbraio, in campionato sono arrivate 8 vittorie, 4 pareggi e 0 sconfitte; nonostante ciò i Cammelli di Abu Dhabi hanno terminato il loro percorso con un secondo posto e la qualificazione alla Champions League del prossimo anno, risultato che è oro per un club che sulla carta partiva per non retrocedere. Fondamentale l’acquisto degli argentini ex Arsenal de Sarandi’ (Gaston Suarez e Nico Gimenez) e il prestito del bomber Joao Pedro Pereira che ha concluso con 18 reti.

Lo sprint finale, però, se lo è aggiudicato l’al Jazira, che trascinato dal proprio bomber Ali Mabkhout, 25 reti in campionato e primo nella classifica all time degli UAE (capace di frantumare ogni record all’età di solo 30 anni) porta il titolo dall’altra sponda di Abu Dhabi, per la terza volta nella storia. Un titolo piu’ che meritato vista la costanza e l’abilità nel vincere le partite chiave, mentalità che Marcel Keizer, tecnico olandese ex Ajax e Sporting Lisbona ha dato agli emiratini. Ora l’al Jazira sembrerebbe pronto per il grande palcoscenico asiatico visto lo step successivo appena raggiunto. D’altronde Mads Davidsen, in un’intervista rilasciata a noi tempo fa, ci disse apertamente che il grande obiettivo era diventare una solida big in un tutto il continente.

Vediamo insieme le tappe piu’ importanti dell’al Jazira campione 2020-2021:

21 Novembre 2021, l’al Jazira va a Dubai per giocare lo scontro diretto con lo Shabab al Ahli. Un match a suon di reti tra i due pesi massimi Igor Jesus e Ali Mabkhout che si conclude a favore degli ospiti per 3-5. L’al Jazira è stata l’unica squadra a vincere a Dubai per tutta la stagione. Se una gara poteva dare la svolta alla stagione facendo alzare l’asticella è proprio quella del 18 Febbraio, contro il Baniyas. Quello che a sorpresa si è rivelato il title match si è concluso in un pirotecnico 3-3; l’al Jazira in una partita sofferta si ritrovava sotto per 3-2 fino al 90esimo dove viene poi assegnato un calcio di rigore, clamorosamente fallito da Ali. Quando ormai sembrava tutto finito, al 94esimo minuto, il nigeriano, classe 1993, Imoh Ezekiel segna il gol del pareggio finale e si, questa è stata la vera svolta.

La settimana successiva, in trasferta, la ciurma di Keizer affronta l’attuale capolista dominando e vincendo per 0-3 con doppietta di uno strabiliante Ali Mabkhout e prendendosi così la vetta.

Giungiamo infine alle passate due settimane, dove con la vittoria contro un disastroso al Ain e il match finale, giocato da grande squadra, contro il Khor Fakkan è arrivato il tanto desiderato e meritato titolo. Sempre sotto il segno di uno strabiliante Ali Mabkhout, vero top player che anche in Europa avrebbe probabilmente detto la propria.

An exciting season in the Emirates: al Jazira is champion

Last week, the highest championship of the United Arab Emirates ended, bringing with it a final ranking that no one would have expected (especially when they wrote the guide at the beginning of the season).

26 days full of twists and turns and in fact the UAE Pro League has often changed its ranking in a radical way, upsetting both the last and the first positions. Until the month of March, the leader was Al Sharjah, team of the homonymous emirate where Igor Coronado plays, a talent passed for our Serie B and the fantasist Caio, owned by Benfica. All of this then underwent a phase of settling that ended with the great ride of the last few days: since February 4, in the championship there have been 8 victories, 4 draws and 0 defeats; in spite of this, the Abu Dhabi Camels have finished their journey with a second place and qualification for next year’s Champions League, a result that is gold for a club that on paper was not relegated. Fundamental was the purchase of the Argentinians from Arsenal de Sarandi’ (Gaston Suarez and Nico Gimenez) and the loan of the bomber Joao Pedro Pereira who finished with 18 goals.

The final sprint, however, was won by Al Jazira, led by their own bomber Ali Mabkhout, 25 goals in the championship and first in the UAE all time ranking (able to shatter every record at the age of only 30), who took the title to the other side of Abu Dhabi, for the third time in history. A title more than deserved considering the constancy and the ability to win the key matches; a mentality that Marcel Keizer, Dutch coach ex Ajax and Sporting Lisbon has given to the Emiratines who now seem ready for the great Asian stage given the next step just reached. On the other hand, Mads Davidsen, in an interview given to us some time ago, openly told us that the big goal was to become a big team in every way, both on the continent and off.

Let’s see together the most important milestones of the al Jazira champion 2020-2021:

November 21, 2021, al Jazira travels to Dubai to play the direct clash with Shabab al Ahli. A goal-scoring match between the two heavyweights Igor Jesus and Ali Mabkhout that ends in favor of the guests at 3-5. Al Jazira was the only team to win in Dubai for the whole season. (SaA side).

If one match could have been the turning point of the season, raising the bar, it was the one on February 18 against Baniyas. What surprisingly turned out to be the title match ended in a pyrotechnic 3-3; al Jazira, in a difficult match, found itself down 3-2 until the 90th minute when a penalty kick was awarded, sensationally missed by Ali. When it all seemed to be over, in the 94th minute, the Nigerian, class 1993, Imoh Ezekiel scored the goal of the final tie and yes, this was the real turning point.

The following week, in an away match, Keizer’s crew faced the current leader, dominating and winning 0-3 with a double goal of an amazing Ali Mabkhout and taking the top.

Finally we come to the past two weeks, where with the victory against a disastrous Al Ain and the final match, played as a great team, against Khor Fakkan the much desired and deserved title has arrived. Always under the sign of an amazing Ali Mabkhout, a true top player who would probably have had his say in Europe.
