Kylian Mbappe was one of the very few Real Madrid players whose valuation saw an uptick after the 2024/25 campaign.

The Frenchman, after all, was the highest scorer in La Liga and performed incredibly well in his first season at the club.

Following a strong debut season, Mbappe will be expected to take up a more leadership role in the second season, especially after the departure of key leader Luka Modric.

Mbappe praises Sergio Ramos’ captaincy

In a recent interview with Canal+, Mbappe opened up about captaincy as he heaped praise on former Real Madrid superstar Sergio Ramos.

“My dream captain? Sergio Ramos. He has the soul of a captain, he was born to be a captain,” he said.

Mbappe played with Ramos for two years when the Spaniard joined PSG in the summer of 2021. He featured in over 50 matches for the French giants before leaving in 2023.

Having played alongside Ramos for two seasons, Mbappe is well aware of the leadership qualities he brings to the table.

Lauding his captaincy, Mbappe added, “In the dressing room, the pitch, the aura he has. Even if you don’t give him the armband, the armband will cling onto him.”

Interestingly, Ramos was linked with a return to Real Madrid last year when the Spanish giants were desperately searching for defensive reinforcements.

Unfortunately, the move did not work out as Real Madrid were not interested in signing the veteran defender.

Ramos is currently plying his trade for Mexican outfit Monterrey and will take part in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where he will notably face Champions League finalists Inter Milan.
