After announcing his exit from Real Madrid earlier in the summer, Luka Modric is set for a new chapter in his career.
Instead of moving to MLS or the Saudi league, the veteran midfielder wants to continue playing in Europe and is on the verge of joining AC Milan on a free transfer.
Despite his age, Milan are more than willing to acquire the services of the Croatian international, who is still eyeing the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Matteo Moretto (h/t Madrid Xtra), Modric’s medical with AC Milan was scheduled for today.
However, the Croatian international has decided to postpone the medical examination until after the FIFA Club World Cup.

This is because of the fact that Modric has utmost respect for Real Madrid and does not want to announce his move to another club while he is still contract to the team.
In Modric’s case, the veteran midfielder is contractually obliged to Real Madrid until the end of the season.
It must be noted that Modric’s Real Madrid chapter is not completely over as the player will also represent Real Madrid in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
Given the fact that he could still play matches for Real Madrid, he does not want to undergo his medicals and announce his move to AC Milan just yet.
Modric, nevertheless, is the first of two veterans to leave Real Madrid, with Lucas Vazquez also set to leave the club after years of service.
