K.R.C Genk star and Manchester United target Konstantinos Karetsas reportedly turned down advances from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are keeping tabs on Karetsas, who announced himself to the football world over the weekend after scoring a sensational goal in Greece’s 3-0 victory over Scotland at Hampden Park.

The victory secured Greece’s spot in the top tier of the UEFA Nations League while relegating Scotland to League B.

Moments before the break, Karetsas got on the end of a ball from PAOK’s Giannis Konstantelias before brilliantly curling it into the top corner and beyond the reach of veteran goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Born in Belgium to Greek parents, Karetsas made the decision to represent Greece, despite the fact that he plays for Genk in the Belgian Pro League.

Karestsas – who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder – has so far this term made 30 appearances for Genk across all competitions, registering two goals and four assists.

The 17-year-old’s fine performances have alerted a number of top European clubs to his potential availability in the summer. In addition to United, it was mentioned that Newcastle and Liverpool also sent representatives to watch him in action against Scotland.

The likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest in Karetsas.

However, it appears the player currently has no interest in completing a switch to the Etihad Stadium.

According to Tuttomercatoweb [via SportWitness], Liverpool and United remain in the picture for the teenager, who has already snubbed Pep Guardiola’s side.

City were reportedly eager to add him to their talented pool of young prospects, but his family ultimately decided against the move, believing it wasn’t the right opportunity for him.

In Italy, Napoli appear to be the party with the strongest interest in Karetsas, though there’s an understanding that they will face stiff competition to secure his signature.
