A week on from the January transfer window opening, Women’s Super League clubs have already made key adjustments to their squads during the mid-season break. The window for the WSL and Women’s Championship opened on January 1 and closes at 11pm on January 30.

Here are the moves that have happened in the first week of the winter window.

Sam Kerr joins Liverpool on loan – 8th Jan

No, not that Sam Kerr. The Scotland international, who shares her name with the Chelsea star, has been signed by Liverpool on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season. The 25-year-old said: “I’m really looking forward to being here at Liverpool and bringing my experience, really taking that challenge and hopefully helping the team get the results needed and get further up the table.”

Emma Watson joins Everton on loan – 7th Jan

Scotland international Watson has joined Everton from Manchester United on loan. The 18-year-old midfielder said: “I definitely think it’s a place that will really suit me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Jess Simpson joins Bristol City on loan – 7th Jan

Manchester United defender Simpson will spend another loan term at Bristol City, having previously spent time there in the 2023/24 season. City head coach Steve Kirby said: “It is great Jess is able to come back to Bristol City and show the Championship the quality she has. We know she will learn a lot from us, and she is desperate to get back playing.”

Louna Ribadeira rejoins Chelsea after loan spell ends – 7th Jan

Chelsea recalled Ribadeira from Paris FC who made two appearances in France this season. The 20-year-old forward spent three years at the club before Chelsea signed her in the summer and sent her straight back on loan.

Jorja Fox recalled to Chelsea – 4th Jan

Fox had been on loan at Crystal Palace, but a ruptured ACL in pre-season has kept her out of action this season.

Brooke Aspin recalled to Chelsea – 4th Jan

The 19-year-old suffered an ACL injury in November after four appearances for Crystal Palace.

Martina Fernandez to Everton on loan – 4th Jan

The Champions League winner has joined the Toffees from Barcelona on loan. The 20-year-old Spaniard said: “Everton is a great club, the team is so good and the league – I love it!”

Shekiera Martinez back to West Ham – 3rd Jan

A loan spell with Freiburg has ended as the German forward rejoins the Hammers. The 23-year-old scored five goals and provided two assists in her 12 appearances with the German side.

Olivia Holdt to Tottenham Hotspur – 3rd Jan

The Denmark international has moved from FC Rosengård after three seasons for an undisclosed fee. She will wear the number 11 shirt at Spurs.

Princess Ademiluyi rejoins West Ham – 2nd Jan

Loan spell with Charlton Athletic ended.

Katelin Talbert rejoins West Ham – 2nd Jan

The American goalkeeper’s loan spell with Spurs has ended.

Rebecca Knaak joins Man City for an undisclosed fee – 1st Jan

The German defender joins City from Rosengard. The 28-year-old said: “I am very proud and I feel very honoured to be part of this big club. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kelly Gago signs with Everton – 1st Jan

The France international signed for an undisclosed fee from Nantes. The 25-year-old said: “I chose to come and play for Everton as I liked what [manager] Brian [Sorensen] had to say and how his team plays.”
