Those with sharp eyes will have often noticed that Jude Bellingham has been wearing heavy strapping on his shoulder for much of the season, which first happened in November, after he dislocated it against Rayo Vallecano. It had been a concern for the rest of the season, but since coming back, has not missed any game time.

Bellingham is playing pretty much everything for England at Euro 2024, and it had been reported that Real Madrid wanted him to undergo surgery at the end of the season. However Diario AS say that it is not part of their plans to have the 21-year-old go under the knife. The idea is for him to continue playing with protection – he is likely to be managing the injury risk until he does.

The same goes for Brahim Diaz – the even more eagle-eyed noticed similar strapping on the Moroccan international’s shoulder after he scored against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Supercup. He originally suffered a dislocation against Atletico in the league clash in September, but continued playing after several days of keeping the shoulder immobile. He will not undergo surgery either.

Clearly, their presence and form over the last few months are evidence that it is no great inhibitor for either player, and neither have shown signs of holding back as a result. However they will be at increased risk, and a similar fall could require surgery at a less convenient date.
