Manchester United’s new-look attack delivered a promising debut performance against Arsenal.
On the back of a frustrating 2024/25 campaign, United transformed their attack by adding Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko to their ranks.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo started behind Mason Mount against Arsenal, and Sesko was introduced in the second half to test the visitors’ resolve at Old Trafford.
Ineos’ ambitious move has made several attackers at the club surplus to requirements. United are keen to offload Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho this summer.
In recent days, Sancho has attracted strong interest from AS Roma. Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Gian Gasperini had a phone call with the 25-year-old to convince him to move to Rome.
However, the Serie A giants may be beaten to his signature by another top European club.
According to Diario AS, Besiktas are close to finalising the signing of Jadon Sancho.
It is claimed the Turkish outfit have “reached an agreement” with United after making significant progress in negotiations.
Only “final details” remain to be finalised with the Englishman, who “could be unveiled” this week.
It is understood that Besiktas have already “prepared a video to announce his signing.”
Shining the light on the alleged video, AS add: “It shows former Besiktas players Gökhan Keskin, Recep Çetin, and Ricardo Querasma waiting for a mysterious guest while sailing on the Bosphorus. This guest turns out to be Sancho.”
The move would reunite Sancho with former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is currently at the helm in Istanbul.
Solskjaer signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £73m in 2021. The Spanish publication fail to mention how much Besiktas are paying to United for the 25-year-old’s services. As per multiple reports, the Mancunians value him at around £20m.
