Since the start of the last season, Lamine Yamal has been a part of the FC Barcelona first team, and his performances with the Blaugranes and the Spanish national team since that time have catapulted him into one of the most popular names in European football.
Furthermore, he has established himself as one of the key players at one of the biggest teams at only 17 years of age, which makes him a highly coveted target for some of the biggest clubs in Europe. In fact, there were reports of him having received an offer from PSG, which was later also confirmed by Joan Laporta, but which was rejected by the club.
Yamal recently appeared in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, in which he was asked about this offer. Responding to this question, the youngster revealed that offers from other clubs do not even get to him for two reasons:
“I don’t hear about them, but even if someone from my camp had received such offers, they wouldn’t have told me. First and foremost, because I have a contract, and second, because I believe it would have been impossible for me to leave for another club.”
Further talking about his commitment to Barcelona, the winger highlighted how he has spent his childhood and adolescence with the Blaugrana club:
“It’s the only club I’ve been at, apart from La Torreta, where I first started playing. But yes, I owe everything to Barça. This is where I’ve grown. I’ve been at La Masia since I was 12, and I started playing for Barça when I was seven.”
Yamal was clear that an agreement for his renewal will be reached in the end, while also stating that his love for the club was without any doubt:
“I think no one doubts how much of a Barça fan I am or how much I love this club. Since my debut, I’ve always said it, and I believe everything will work out in the end. If both parties want something to happen, it will happen. But I don’t think anyone can question my love for this club.”
In addition to his skills, his commitment to Barcelona is what makes him such a loveable player for the Blaugrana fans. Hopefully, he will spend his entire career, filled with trophies and awards, at the Catalan club, and join the likes of Lionel Messi as one of the more illustrious names in its history.
