Markus Krösche, Dino Toppmöller and Kevin Trapp with the reaction to the DFB Cup defeat in Leipzig.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “We’re disappointed because we wanted to progress. We were jittery from the first minute, gave the ball away easily and hardly created any chances going forward. We didn’t move well, weren’t sharp enough and were always a step too late in the one-v-ones. They’re the basics for being able to score goals. This shows us that we have many areas where we have to improve. It was a system failure more than anything. It happens, but it’s annoying when it happens in the cup. Tomorrow we’ll press reset and boot up again.”
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “Leipzig were the better team from the first to the last minute. That hurts and we have to accept it. It’s a shame we couldn’t produce the performance that we wanted on the pitch. The result is tough to take and leaves us with a bad feeling. We’ve had a lot of highlights and a lot of wins in recent weeks – now we have to accept a painful defeat.”
Kevin Trapp: “The defeat is deserved, there were a lot of things we didn’t do well. It’s a disappointing way to go out because we can do better. It wasn’t enough. Leipzig have a very good team, which unfortunately we felt the force of.”
