Taremi’s preseason has come to a halt in the last few days.

The 32-year-old had really been building up a head of steam since the start of Inter’s training camp.

Taremi was one of the players who was part of the training camp right from the beginning.

The former Porto striker joined the Nerazzurri last month. And he was keen to get started right away and take full advantage of the preseason period to get up to speed in his new team.

Taremi was also not in action with his national team like many members of Inter’s squad were, therefore there was no extended vacation for him.

Mehdi Taremi Hoping To Be Fit For Inter Serie A Clash Vs Genoa – More Medical Tests Soon

Taremi had scored in each of Inter’s first three friendly matches of preseason. His performances had been one of the standout aspects of the summer for the Nerazzurri.

However, Taremi picked up a muscle injury in training this week.

Medical tests on Thursday confirmed the problem.

The injury is not a very serious one. It should not keep Taremi on the sidelines for more than a week or two.

Therefore, Taremi will miss Inter’s final two friendlies of preseason, against Al-Ittihad and Chelsea, having already missed yesterday’s friendly against Pisa.

But the real target for Taremi will be to be available when the competitive action starts.

Inter begin their Serie A season with a match against Genoa on Saturday, August 17th.

Taremi had reportedly been pushing to start in that match. Given that he has been the only senior forward in training from the start, he would have an advantage in terms of fitness.

But Taremi’s availability is in doubt due to his recent injury.

If Taremi does not recover in time for the match against Genoa then he should do so for the following weekend’s match against Lecce.

But the timeline will be tight as far as the 32-year-old being fit for the opener against Genoa.

In any event, the Corriere della Sera report, Taremi should undergo further medical tests in the next few days. These should give some clarity about whether or not he’ll be able to get back in time for the match against Genoa.
