On the other hand, Inzaghi spent the majority of his playing days at Lazio, before coaching at the club for almost ten years between the youth sector and the first team.

Yet, Zanetti insists that the manager fell in love with the atmosphere at Inter almost immediately.

“Simone immediately empathized with our fans,” said the Nerazzurri legend in his interview with Radio TV Serie A via FcInterNews.

“Our supporters appreciate his humility and serenity. Then maybe there are those who get angry about a substitution or a negative result.

“However, he immediately fell in love with the environment and the Inter family. You can see how happy he is at Appiano Gentile. His staff are always smiling as well.”

The club’s vice-president also revealed that the club is seeking a large squad for next season.

“We want to remain competitive in all competitions, with a hard-working mentality and concentration.

“If there are opportunities to enhance the squad, we will do so, but the objectives will be to defend the second star and go further in the Champions League.

“There is Club World Cup will be fundamental too. We will have so many games to play, we’ll need a large squad.”

The Argentine icon is also optimistic about the contract extensions of Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez.

“There is a willingness on both sides to continue together. The intention is that the core remains intact.

“Because we see in these guys the desire to continue and we are happy with it. This means that we have a very strong foundation.

“But if some opportunities arise that the coach considers them important, we will do it, always within our financial parameters.”
