The Netherlands are now one of the final four teams remaining at the Euros.

The Oranje beat Poland, drew with France, and lost to Austria in the group stage. And in the knockouts, they’ve scored convincing wins against the likes of Romania and Turkey.

Inter wingback Dumfries has been a key part of the Netherlands’ starting eleven, along with his club teammate Stefan de Vrij.

The Inter pair faced Nerazzurri teammates Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnaotivc, and Benjamin Pavard in the group stage.

And on Saturday, Dumfries and the Netherlands eliminated a Turkey side captained by Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Now, the Netherlands face England for a place in the final of the Euros.

The winner of that semifinal showdown will go on to face either Spain or France.

Of the win over Turkey, Dumfries said that “It was a bad first half from us.”

“We struggled against a team who are great. We lost a lot of balls, and a lot of second balls.”

“But in the second half we did well,” Dumfries continued. “With a lot of intensity.”

The Inter wingback beamed, “We didn’t give an inch.”

“And in the end we went through,” he added. “That’s the important thing.”

Dumfries explained that “At halftime we said to ourselves that we had to do better.”

“We had a great opportunity, and we took it. We’re very proud of the reaction we showed in the second half.”

Dumfries said that “We know what we can do and we believe in the path we’re on, and in each other.”

“We’ll have to do better in the semifinal,” Dumfries admitted. “We have to improve the things that weren’t working.”

“But I’m proud of the performance in the second half. And that’s what’s important.”
