Stankovic was born in Milano in 2005 when his father Dejan was representing the Nerazzurri. Therefore, his passion for the club was somewhat ingrained.

The 19-year-old established himself as one of the most promising youngsters within the club’s ranks. Last season, he was the captain of the Primavera side.

Nevertheless, making the step from the U19 side to the senior level is never easy, let alone at one of Europe’s top clubs.

Therefore, youngsters often have to go through one or more loan stints to prove themselves.

This was the case for Dimarco who started his career at Inter, but had to earn his place at his beloved club the hard way.

The 26-year-old made his bones with the likes of Parma and Hellas Verona before returning to Inter in the summer of 2021 as a polished player.

Therefore, the Italy international advised the young Stankovic to follow in his footsteps.

Inter Milan Star Federico Dimarco Told Aleksandar Stankovic To Join Luzern On Loan

The young Serbian explains how his older teammate played a pivotal role in his decision to join Luzern.

“I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. When the opportunity arose I immediately called Dimarco, who I consider like an older brother, and asked him for advice,” said the teenager in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“He told me to accept the offer. After three days I was in Switzerland.”

Aleksandar is the younger brother of Filip Stankovic who also emerged from Inter’s youth academy.

The goalkeeper is currently enjoying his first Serie A experience at Venezia, but the younger sibling is hoping for a family reunion at Appiano Gentile in the future.

“It would be a dream to return with my brother: him in goal and me in midfield. I’m happy with his impact in Venice. He had a great match at San Siro.

“Filip and I don’t pay attention to the surname. Our dad taught us to look beyond his shadow, he made us make mistakes to get back up.”
