Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the Nerazzurri are not the only team to have invested to try and win the Serie A title.

The Nerazzurri coach hit out in an interview with DAZN, via FCInterNews, after his team’s 3-2 Serie A win over Torino.

At the moment, Inter are one of a number of teams bunched up around the top of the Serie A table.

It is Napoli who lead the way at the moment. But the likes of Inter, AC Milan, and Juventus are not far behind the league leaders.

What seems clear right now is that this won’t be a Serie A title race like the last couple season.

That is to say, there will actually be a title race. Last time around, Inter won the Serie A title by a margin of nearly twenty points. The previous campaign, Napoli did so in similarly dominant fashion.

Inzaghi: “Other Teams In Serie A Have Invested For The Same Goal As Inter”

Naturally, the pressure is on Inter as favourites to win the title after their exploits last season.

But Inter coach Inzaghi said that “Last season was not a stroll to the title.”

“We were nearly flawless, and that will be impossible to repeat,” he admitted.

“There are a lot of teams that have strengthened in the summer,” Inzaghi said. “And invested a lot, for the same goal as Inter.”

“We will try to work for it, but I don’t like picking favourites.”

“Right now Napoli are top of the table. And we’ve seen what Juve and Milan have done in Europe, and what Atalanta have done over the last few matches.”

Inzaghi made clear that “I’m focused on my team.”

“That’s where I can have an impact,” the Inter coach hit out.

“Now we’ll prepare for the resumption of the league after the international break, which will be tough.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi also spoke about Inter’s hattrick hero against Torino Marcus Thuram. “He’s integrated very well with Lautaro,” the coach said.,

“Because he attacks the space in behind well, but can also take care of the ball.”

“Lately he’s been attacking in behind more often,” Inzaghi said of Thuram. “Because that’s what we’ve been asking him to do when we come up against teams who defend team.”

“We’re obliged to attack the space in behind,” the Nerazzurri coach said.

And then Inzaghi explained why he decided to take Thuram off after he had scored a hattrick.

“He asked for the substitution,” the Inter coach said of the Frenchman. “Because he had a bad blow to the tendon.”

“I think that it was from the challenge from the red card,” Inzaghi said. Torino defender Guillermo Maripan saw a straight red for a studs-up challenge that made contact with Thuram’s ankle.

“Let’s hope it’s nothing serious,” the Inter coach said. “Because he’s very important for us.”
