Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi isn’t too worried when it comes to Lautaro Martinez scoring against AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s final.
Inter captain Martinez has been struggling for goals in recent weeks.
The Argentine scored against Cagliari in Serie A last weekend. The hope was certainly that that would signal the end of his goal drought.
But that’s not really proven to be the case.
Instead, Martinez passed up good opportunities to build on that strike in Inter’s Supercoppa semifinal win over Atalanta.
Now, Inter head to the final of the Supercoppa against city rivals AC Milan.
Martinez has often proven to be Inter’s hero in the Supercoppa. He scored the winner against Napoli in last season’s final, while he was on the scoresheet against the Rossoneri two years ago.
Therefore, the Argentine could be hoping that this next final inspires him once again.
Of Martinez’s record of scoring in the last three Supercoppa finals, Inter coach Inzaghi said that “He remembers everything.”
“He’s very attentive,” said the Nerazzurri coach.
“And he’s doing very well,” Inzaghi said of Martinez.
“He’s the captain and the leader, and he had a great match the other evening.
“We know that it’s important for strikers to score goals,” Inzaghi admitted.
“But it’s enough for me that he keeps putting in these performances.”
Meanwhile, Inzaghi said that “I’m very happy here at Inter.”
“I feel the respect from everyone,” the 48-year-old went on.
Inzaghi noted that “Tomorrow we can win a trophy.”
“That’s what we’re here for. And we have a great opportunity, up against a great team.”
