Beppe Marotta feels that a European trophy is the ultimate goal for Inter Milan to cap off their current winning cycle.

The Nerazzurri CEO spoke to Mondo Sportivo, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s Serie A title victory.

It might be an exaggeration to call Inter a “dominant force” in Italian football since Marotta became the club’s CEO.

But the Nerazzurri’s record of domestic trophies in the past few years has certainly been an impressive one.

Inter have won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have also reached two European finals.

Inter reached the Europa League final in 2020, losing to Sevilla. Then, last season, the Nerazzurri made it to the Champions League final.

That final was a narrow 1-0 defeat the English juggernauts Manchester City.

Beppe Marotta: European Trophy The “Ultimate Goal” For Inter

Marotta mused on how the team have gotten to where they are in winning the Serie A title, “We have our own model.”

“And it’s proven to be successful.”

“We brought in twelve players last summer,” the Inter CEO noted. “But the hard core of Italian players managed to inculcate them with what it means to play for Inter.”

“All together, we’ve created a model – and now we have a cycle that’s in full swing.”

“This is an extraordinary evening,” Marotta said of celebrating the Scudetto.

“Now, from tomorrow onwards, we’ll start thinking about the future,” Marotta made clear.

“First of all, there’s the matter of contract extensions for some players, and for the coach.”

“I don’t think there will be any problems in that respect,” Marotta added. “Because they’ve all shown their willingness to continue their relationship with Inter, and are proud to do so.”

“For us now, the ultimate goal that we still haven’t reached would be to win a top European trophy,” Marotta concluded.
