Norwich City's Gabriel Sara is drawing the attention of some top clubs, including Serie A giants AS Roma, according to Italian news outlet La Gazetta Dello Sport via Roma Press.

The Brazilian has reportedly been placed on the Canaries' transfer list, as new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup looks to raise enough funds to stamp his own authority on the squad.

Sara was instrumental to Norwich finishing inside the play-off places last season, with his 13 goals and 12 assists in the Championship setting him apart from the vast majority of other second tier midfielders.

Norwich City fan pundit: 'Impossible to replace him'

Football League World's Norwich City fan pundit, Zeke Downes, believes the Canaries should be pushing for a higher fee for their star midfielder.

Zeke said: "I'm not surprised with the links to Roma, I think he is good enough, but the fee seems to be very low.

"I was a bit surprised by that. I've also heard that Norwich are happy to let him go for about £15m, which is incredibly low in my mind.

"We only bought him for £10m, and he, to us, is worth a lot more than that. We are not going to be able to find a replacement for that price. "I wasn't expecting that it was going to be £25-30m, especially as he isn't English, but I was hoping for £20m. And if it is any less, then I think we've let him go for far too little.

"Especially because replacing him will just be pretty much impossible at this stage."

Norwich should look to Summerville for Sara's guide price

According to TNT Sport, Leeds have set a £30m valuation on Championship Player of The Season Crysencio Summerville, in what is a summer transfer window in which the 22-year-old appears destined for a Premier League move.

Compare that to Norwich's reported £17m valuation of Sara, - according to Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan via X - and it does feel like the club could push for a larger fee than that for the 25-year-old.

Indeed, it was Summerville who found the back of the net on 19 occasions as opposed to Sara's 13, but it was the Brazilian who registered more assists and created more chances than the Leeds player.

It's worth baring in mind that whilst Summerville is an out-and-out winger, and thus was more heavily involved and instructed to be a part of the Whites' attack, Sara is a player who spent a large proportion of last season operating in a central midfield role, and still was able to rival the Dutchman's attacking output.

Therefore, with Summerville looking set for a blockbuster move to the Premier League this summer, for a fee that could be as much as double that of what Norwich could accept for Sara, Canaries fans may well be left feeling short-changed.

Sara's contract isn't due to expire until the summer of 2026, and the Canaries have the option to extend that for a further year too.

As such, there should be no rush to sell Sara for anything less than what he's worth, with the club seemingly holding all the cards at the negotiation table.

So should they sell their talisman for anything less than £20m, and the Carrow Road faithful will likely be disappointed not to have received more, as netting that extra £5-10m could be the difference between signing that extra couple of players who could make the difference for them next season.
