Alexis Saelemaekers has had a decent start to life at AS Roma, and the Roman club are considering asking AC Milan about a permanent deal already.
It has not been a fantastic season for Saelemaekers, simply because he has struggled for minutes due to injury in the opening part of the season. However, in recent weeks he has been a shining point in Claudio Ranieri’s team.
With four contributions, including a goal and an assist in the Rome derby this weekend, in his last four games, there is a desire to keep him at the club according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Belgian winger has ‘convinced everyone in Rome’ since returning. He brings tactical fluidity and a general presence which has been lacking for the Giallorossi.
Before Christmas, there were suggestions that a permanent deal could cost €15 million, which is a figure that may not be liked in the capital, so an exchange could sweeten a deal for the Rossoneri.
According to a report, Tammy Abraham is the obvious option – he is happy with Milan and well-liked in the dressing room, however, his wage could be a stalling point.
Bryan Cristante could also be another option, as reported earlier this month.
