Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho has received a massive boost in his push for a move to a top Premier League club, following the latest update on his proposed transfer to Chelsea.

Garnacho done at United

Garnacho does not have a future at United, with the player unlikely to turn out for the club ever again while Ruben Amorim is still in charge of the team.

The pair’s relationship irreparably broke down towards the end of last season after Amorim benched Garnacho for the Europa League loss to Tottenham Hotspur. After the final whistle, an infuriated Garnacho told reporters that the season was s**t while casting doubts over his future.

He also aimed a dig at Amorim’s decision to leave him out of the starting XI. In response, Amorim informed the Argentina international that his services are no longer needed at Old Trafford.

Garnacho is part of United’s ‘bomb squad’ – a group of five players who have been exiled from the first team and forced to train separately as they sort out their futures. The five were also not included in the club’s pre-season plans.

Amorim recently suggested he’s open to welcoming them back if they fail to secure moves elsewhere, but it remains a long shot that they’ll actually feature for United again.

Garnacho wants Premier League stay

Garnacho has not been short of suitors amidst links to the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Napoli, Juventus and Al-Nassr.

However, it has been consistently mentioned that his preference is to remain in England.

Chelsea, in particular, stand out as an appealing destination for the 21-year-old. They offer Champions League football and are assembling an exciting project under Enzo Maresca, driven by a core of promising young talent.

With Noni Madueke sold to Arsenal, there could be room for a new attacking addition at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been heavily pursuing RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, but according to journalist Ben Jacobs, this pursuit is unlikely to impact their interest in Garnacho.

Chelsea’s admiration for Garnacho is still firm

Jacobs wrote on X, “Chelsea could bid for Alejandro Garnacho in addition to Xavi Simons.”

“Another left winger possible even after Gittens due to Quenda arriving in 2026, Mudryk unavailable, Sancho returning to Manchester United and a chance George is loaned.”

Garnacho scored 11 goals and provided an additional 10 assists for United in 58 appearances across all competitions last term.
