France Star Continues Injury-Hit ‘2025 To Forget’ With Inter Milan At FIFA Club World Cup | OneFootball

Marcus Thuram has continued his injury-hit “2025 to forget” with Inter Milan at the start of the Club World Cup.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Marcus Thuram had been one of Inter’s outstanding players during the first half of the season.

As the Gazzetta note, right up until the Supercoppa Italiana in January, Thuram had scored thirteen goals for the Nerazzurri.

The Frenchman had seemingly shown that he can be the decisive player in attack for Inter. Even when Lautaro Martinez is either unavailable or not at his best.

However, Thuram’s form has dropped off dramatically in 2025.

Injuries and physical issues have certainly had their role to play in Thuram’s decline.

There was a nagging ankle problem in February. Then, in April the 27-year-old suffered from some muscular fatigue as a result of Inter’s intense Champions league tie against Bayern Munich.

The upshot of all of this is that Marcus Thuram simply hasn’t looked at his best.

There were decisive goals against the likes of Feyenoord and Bayern Munich in the Champions League. But these were the exception rather than the rule.

In fact, the Gazzetta note, beyond those two European strikes, Thuram has scored just three times in 2025.

Moreover, as Thuram’s substitute appearance against Monterrey showed, there is a real lack of sharpness to the France international’s play.

It is hard to avoid the impression that Thuram is playing within himself due to his physical condition.
