Paulo Fonseca and the AC Milan fanbase have not been on the same page on occasions, and the Portuguese head coach has admitted that his side must earn faith.
There are no two ways about it. Milan have been too inconsistent to receive the full support of the Rossoneri fanbase, and there have been difficulties in fully believing in the current set-up given the regular problems that this season has brought.
Despite wins against Real Madrid and Inter, they have often been contradicted by lesser results against lesser teams. For this reason, Fonseca has struggled to fully win over the fan base, who in all honesty, were never fully on board with his appointment.
It seems that Fonseca is aware of this though, and in his pre-Sassuolo press conference, he admitted that he and his team have a responsibility to deliver things to the fanbase before San Siro can be fully behind them.
Against Empoli, we saw a balanced team….
“I am satisfied. We played a good game, very balanced. We had many goal chances, we recovered the ball high, we are on the right path. We have to work every day to become stronger and stronger.
“We have to be the ones to take the fans by the hand and the team did that in the last game. With the fans by our side, we are stronger.”
