Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he has been approached regarding the head coaching job by at least one club, but is prioritising Como.
Milan are expected to change head coach before next season, and of the names that has been linked as a potential replacement for Sergio Conceicao is Fabregas. He has navigated Como to comfortable survival in their first season back in the top flight, turning heads in to process.
Corriere dello Sport even went so far as to say that he is the ‘dream’ candidate in the eyes of the management, even if he is strongly tied to his current side and the project that they are building. The rumours, though, will not go away.
Fabregas gave an interview to Corriere dello Sport in which he spoke about his adventure at Como, but also about what the future holds. His comments are via MilanPress.
“Future? I don’t know, nothing is decided yet. I need a short break at the end of the season, a moment to breathe before sitting down at the table with Como,” he said.
“I consider myself very lucky because here the management of daily life is the same whether you win or lose. The comparison is constant. I expect a lot, it’s true, because one thing that Conte taught me and repeated a few days ago is the essence of our work.

“The only one that is always at risk is that of the coach, it’s a question of internal and external expectations. Como the priority? I have to understand where we want to go. And how. Yes, the priority is Como.
“It’s normal that some clubs have come forward. There are teams that are looking for the coach or the player. They call and that’s fine. That’s how it is, we shouldn’t lie to people. It happens everywhere.”
The Spaniard also offered some background about his time as a player, confirming that he could have joined the Rossoneri a few years ago when Ivan Gazidis was the CEO.
“When I was at Chelsea, Roma looked for me. I was going through a difficult time. Conte, when he first arrived, used Matic and Kante in the middle of the pitch in a 3-4-3. These are situations that happen, but I wasn’t experiencing them well.
“I had to push really hard to make him appreciate me and find space. Well, in that period I spoke to Monchi for Roma and Gazidis for Milan. They both wanted me.”
