Lee Hendrie has spoken to FLW about which club he can see signing Southampton’s Tyler Dibling this summer.
Lee Hendrie has backed Tyler Dibling to leave Southampton and join Newcastle United this summer, believing Eddie Howe will allow him to prove his worth in the Premier League.
Southampton are gearing up for the opening weekend of the 2025-26 season, and entertain Hollywood-owned Wrexham at St Mary’s, as the Saints challenge for immediate promotion back to the big time.
Will Still is embarking on his first job in English football after a successful couple of stints in France, taking on the hurdles that are thrown by relegation from the top-flight.
With the summer transfer window not closing until the 1st September, the Saints still have players that could move on from the South Coast and chase moves to some of Europe’s top divisions.
One of those is exciting teenage star Tyler Dibling, who has the potential to go right to the very top of the game.
Following relegation, Dibling has been touted to make the jump straight back up to the Premier League, with the likes of Everton, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all showing an interest in securing his services.
Now, Dibling is believed to have been removed from full contract training at Southampton has his future remains up in the air.
With this in mind, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has spoken to FLW about what club he can see Dibling joining this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football League World, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes Tyler Dibling will depart from St Mary’s before the end of the transfer window, and has backed Newcastle United to be the best destination for him to showcase his talents back in the top-flight.
Hendrie said: “This seems to be going on and on with Tyler Dibling, fees are going round what he’s worth with some bids going in, with Everton, Newcastle and Spurs in the links.
“I think it’s one of them. You look at the potential he’s got, there’s no doubt that all three clubs would be really good for him and of course, he’s stepping back into a Premier League situation regardless.
“With the way all three sides play, he would be able to fit in, and he has really good potential to kick on, and I’ve liked what I’ve seen over the last few seasons.
“The big question is where is he going to fit in and what club is going to be best? I think if I had to choose out of the three, I think Eddie Howe and Newcastle would be a really good fit.
“Being at Newcastle, it’s a place where players get opportunities and knowing their situation, you feel he could go there and really show what he’s all about, so if I had to choose out of the three, I think he’d probably have more potential of game time at Newcastle.”
With Southampton bound to receive a substantial fee for Tyler Dibling, the Saints would have the luxury of going big themselves for a wide player of quality.
They’ve recently been linked with a move for West Brom’s Tom Fellows, and despite Albion’s reluctance to sell to a Championship rival, pressure from a big bid would really test their resolve given their ongoing issues with P&S.
The Baggies academy graduate notched a joint-highest 14 assists last season, and could really benefit in a team that is dominating possession, with his consistent and accurate deliveries bound to create endless numbers of opportunities for the strikers to profit off.
Fellows is a player that is on the rise in his young career and seems destined to achieve his ambitions of playing in the Premier League.
If they could get a deal over the line, then Dibling’s exit could feel like a distant memory, as the 22-year-old has had previous success of being a dangerous force in the Championship and giving opposition defenders torrid times.
