With the commencement of the new Championship dawning upon us, it has been difficult, as it always is, for many to pinpoint three teams to make the drop to League One come the end of the season.

The three teams promoted from League One, Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Wrexham, have all been tipped to do well this campaign, with all three showing they are not afraid to splash the cash in the market to try and improve their squads.

Usually, the three promoted teams are widely earmarked to be among the favourites to go straight back down, but that doesn't seem to be the case this season.

Sheffield Wednesday's off-the-pitch struggles have been widely documented, with the Owls currently facing a challenge to field a senior team for their opening fixture at newly relegated Leicester City.

Elsewhere, Preston North End, Hull City, Oxford United, Portsmouth and QPR have all been tipped by the bookies this season to face the drop.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has revealed the three teams he believes could be facing the drop for this upcoming Championship season.

Goodman says: "Obviously, there is still plenty of time in this window for all of the teams to add plenty of players, so the picture might look very different come the 1st of September."

Sheffield Wednesday's struggles off the pitch have been well-documented, with owner Dejphon Chansiri coming under intense criticism from fans of the club and beyond.

The Owls have been forced to close one of their stands by the Sheffield council, with it failing to meet safety requirements, and are currently unable to field a full first eleven and bench of senior players.

Even more recently, as reported by Mike McGrath on X, the company which supplies the club's sock tape is refusing to provide them with any more tape, so perilous is the club's financial situation.

Goodman briefly states his thoughts on the matter, saying: "You worry for Sheffield Wednesday for obvious reasons."

With former Crystal Palace shareholder and American businessman John Textor sparking rumours of an imminent takeover at Hillsbrough by following the club on Instagram, Owls fans will be hoping to see the back of Chansiri sooner rather than later.

Last season, the Tigers survived relegation on the final day by the skin of their teeth with a draw away at Portsmouth, but despite coming in mid-season and keeping them up, newly-appointed Sheffield United Manager Ruben Selles was sacked and has since been replaced by Sergej Jakirovic.

Goodman says, "You worry for Hull City because they seem to shoot themselves in the foot time and time again, and I think that they are weaker than they were this time last season, and they only survived on goal difference."

Hull, similarly to Wednesday, were placed under a transfer embargo last month due to off-field financial issues, though have since made a couple of signings on frees, including Oli McBurnie and Semi Ayaji, with loan deals for Joel Ndala from Man City and John Lundstram from Trabzonspor.

Oxford's pre-season tour of Malaysia didn't go all to plan, with numerous injuries hitting the squad, including new signing Brian De Keersmaecker.

Goodman says: "Listening to the noises coming out of Oxford, pre-season hasn't gone amazingly well.

"I think the media talk wasn't ideal, suffering injuries, you wonder if they got off to a terrible start, whether they would be able to recover."
