We named eight EFL Championship players who deserve a Netflix document based around themselves, and why these could make for very entertaining viewing.

Docuseries around English football clubs have become extremely popular in recent years, ever since the initial release of Netflix's 'Sunderland Til I Die' series based around the Wearside club, which first aired in 2018.

Since then, we've seen the likes of Leeds United, Wrexham AFC, and most recently Birmingham City all follow this trend, with a camera crew following the endeavours of those clubs, and offering fans a new look into how a professional football club operates.

But what if Netflix or another streaming company switched it up, instead focusing solely on one player instead of a whole club?

Football League World decided to explore this in further detail by naming eight Championship players who could be the star of their own Netflix documentary.

Barry Bannan

Sheffield Wednesday

This one just makes sense. Barry Bannan is a much-loved figure at Sheffield Wednesday, and has just put pen to paper to extend his stay at Hillsborough to over a decade.

During the Scotsman's time at the club, things have unfortunately been a rough ride, with relegation to League One and the constant battles against club owner Dejphon Chansiri.

It would be fascinating to have access behind the scenes with Bannan, and see how influential he is in the dressing room in tough situations, as well as on the pitch with his teammates.

Max Cleworth

Wrexham AFC

Max Cleworth is looking to become the second player in history to go from the National League to the Premier League, after Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu achieved this feat a couple of years ago.

Whilst the events at Wrexham are well-documented thanks to the club's own documentary, it would be thrilling to follow Cleworth around for his first season in the Championship, as someone who has seen it all with the Welsh club.

At just 22 years old, it would give an excellent insight into the life of a young player who has been suddenly catapulted to stardom, and how he balances that out with expectations on the pitch.

Marlon Pack

Portsmouth FC

The arrival of Marlon Pack at Fratton Park coincided with two strong years for Portsmouth, which finally saw them end their lengthy spell in League One, and establish themselves as a Championship side.

The Pompey skipper is a veteran of the English game, and would offer great insight into what it's like to be the captain of a club that's recovering from a tough decade, and is on its way back to the pinnacle of English football.

With heavy expectations of a huge fanbase on his shoulders, it would be interesting to see how Pack deals with this.

Omari Hutchinson

Ipswich Town

A hugely talented and skillful player, Omari Hutchinson shone for Ipswich Town in the Premier League last season, but unfortunately his exploits weren't enough to keep the Tractor Boys up.

Despite transfer speculation, the Englishman could still be at Portman Road next season, and will likely be one of the key cogs in Kieran McKenna's system.

With that in mind, it would be fascinating to see how a young player such as Hutchinson deals with being the main man of a huge club, whilst also attracting attention from elsewhere, and how that plays on his mind during the season.

Tyler Dibling

Southampton

One of the hottest prospects in English football, Tyler Dibling exploded onto the scene in the Premier League last season for Southampton, which has raised eyebrows from across the Premier League.

The 19-year-old has previously been valued at £100m by the Saints after just one season of professional football behind him, which must hold some serious weight when that kind of money is being talked about at such a young age.

Similarly to Hutchison, it would be great to see how a youngster such as Dibling deals with a sudden rise to stardom, as well as if such a hefty price tag weighs on his mind at times.

Carlton Morris

Derby County

New Derby County talisman Carlton Morris probably wouldn't have thought he'd be playing for the Rams within a year of the conclusion of the 2023-24 Premier League season, which saw him score 11times in the top flight.

However, after a poor season which resulted in back-to-back relegations for Luton, Morris joined up with John Eustace's side for the upcoming season, and will be spearheading an exciting project at Pride Park.

Watching how the striker overcomes two difficult years on the pitch at Luton to become the main man in another exciting project could make for dramatic viewing.

Demarai Gray

Birmingham City

One of the most exciting moves of the summer so far is definitely Demarai Gray's return to Birmingham City, where it all started for him almost a decade ago.

After a frustrating stint in Saudi Arabia, having a camera crew document the fan favourite's homecoming in this new era of Birmingham would likely be a very popular series.

Following Gray's return to English football, how he integrates into Chris Davies' team, and if he picks up where he left off would make for a very interesting series.

Moussa Sissoko

Watford

A veteran of English football, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko is still going strong for Watford at the age of 35.

Whilst Sissoko isn't the first name on the team sheet, his experience and wise head will undoubtedly be a hugely effective presence in the dressing room, especially at a club like Watford who go through managers at an astonishing rate.

A popular player wherever he's been, having a camera crew document the twilight of his career could offer valuable insight into how important the senior pros are in the dressing room.
