The Hoops attacker is among those being looked at as Chris Davies seeks additional firepower.

Blues manager Davies told his recruitment team that he wanted two wingers before the window shut, and the club added Lewis Koumas to the ranks late last week on a loan deal from Liverpool - Demarai Gray has also returned to the club this summer from Al-Ettifaq, having graduated through the Blues academy before moving on to Leicester City in 2016.

But they are still in the hunt for additional help as Davies looks towards a back-to-back promotion push, and he's looking for somewhat of a favour from Brendan Rodgers - who Davies was the number two to at Swansea City, Liverpool, Leicester City and Celtic.

Winger Hyun-jun, 23, joined the Hoops from Gangwon in a £2 million deal two years ago, but has found it hard to nail down a regular spot in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

He has again been in and out so far as Celtic kicked off the 2025-26 campaign, being omitted from the starting 11 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League final qualifying round match against Kazakh outfit Kairat Almaty, although he was handed a start by Rodgers on Tuesday evening out in Central Asian country - a match which the Hoops lost on penalties to miss out on a spot in Europe's premier competition.

Rodgers sold Nicolas Kuhn to Como this summer and has been struggling in forward areas due to an injury to his replacement, the returning Jota, so it may be that this is a sale too far for the Glasgow club to consider.

The six-cap South Korea international is certainly on Birmingham's radar though ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline, having scored five times in 23 Scottish Premiership matches last season.

Birmingham's squad has a flavour of the Far East as Davies plotted the club’s return from League One following a record-breaking 111-point haul.

South Korea international Paik Seung-Ho was already in the ranks before the former Spurs number two arrived at the club, but he added Celtic's Tomoki Iwata in the final week of last year’s window and then has also brought in young winger Ayuma Yokoyama from Sagan Tosu.

That didn’t work out, with Yokoyama now at Belgian side Genk, but Davies has persisted with that line of recruitment from Asian countries.

He has drafted in both attacking midfielder Kanya Fujimoto from Gil Vicente in the Portuguese league and prolific striker Kyogo Furuhashi from Stade Rennais - another player with Celtic connections.
