Ex Italy Striker Argues Inter Milan ‘Didn’t Need To Make Big Changes’ This Summer | OneFootball

Legendary former striker Christian Vieri feels that Inter Milan didn’t change much in the summer transfer window because they didn’t have to.

Vieri spoke to Milan-based newspaper Il Giorno, via FCInter1908. He gave his thoughts on his former team’s business in the summer.

This was certainly a quieter summer for Inter than the last one.

Last summer window saw twelve players leave the Nerazzurri, and twelve come in to replace them.

Big names like Andre Onana, Milan Skriniar, and Marcelo Brozovic exited. And Inter signed players like Yann Sommer, Benjamin Pavard, Marcus Thuram, and Davide Frattesi.

This time around, there were a total of four signings.

Inter managed to lure striker Mehdi Taremi and midfielder Piotr Zielinski as two big-name free transfer signings.

And then goalkeeper Josep Martinez and defender Tomas Palacios arrived as well. They are more players for the future than the present.

Meanwhile, going the other way there were a few exits.

But all of the players who left Inter were players who had not started regularly last season.

Vieri: “Inter Milan Didn’t Need To Change Much This Summer”

In contrast to Inter were their bitter Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus.

The Bianconeri, in addition to changing their coach by appointing Thiago Motta, made big signings all over the pitch.

And players like Federico Chiesa, Wojcjech Sczesny, and Adrien Rabiot headed for the exit door.

Former striker Vieri said that “A club like that wants to win. Not just participate.”

“They want to get into the Champions League, maybe not to win but to at least be in the mix.”

“The same goes for Inter or Milan,” Vieri argued. “They have to make their quality count.

Meanwhile, Vieri also gave his thoughts on Inter’s summer transfer business.

“They already had a top squad, and they still managed to sign Taremi and Zielinski,” he said.

“They certainly didn’t need to make any more changes than that.”
