Former Inter Milan assistant coach Jose Morais feels that striker Mehdi Taremi “can give a lot” at Inter Milan even if it won’t be easy.

The Portuguese coach, formerly an assistant of Jose Mourinho and currently in charge of Iranian club Sepahan, gave his thoughts on Taremi to Ft360, via FCInterNews.

Striker Taremi joined Inter during the summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old made the switch on a free transfer. He joined after his contract with Porto ran out at the end of June.

Inter had already been pursuing Taremi as far back as last summer.

The Iranian international was among the Nerazzurri’s targets in attack after their efforts to sign Romelu Lukaku permanently collapsed in dramatic fashion.

At that time, Inter decided not to sign Taremi for a fee.

The Iranian had still had a year to go on his deal at Porto. And the Portuguese club were reportedly still holding out for a fairly high fee, which Inter balked at.

But Taremi’s name never really left the Nerazzurri’s orbit.

Sensing an opportunity to sign the experienced and prolific striker, Inter began negotiations with Taremi in January and convinced him that they were the right project for him.

Ex Inter Assistant Coach Jose Morais: “Mehdi Taremi Can Give A Lot To Inter”

“Inter are a big, ambitious club, and Taremi is a great player,” said former Inter and Real Madrid assistant coach Morais.

“If he can adapt to his new team he can be successful,” Morais went on.

He noted that “Portuguese and Italian football are very different.”

“Inter are not like Porto,” argued Mourinho’s former assistant coach.

“But Mehdi can give a lot to Inter and contribute to success if he understands the dynamic.”

“It won’t be an easy task for him.” Morais added, however. “Because Inter already have world-class forwards.”
