Ex-Germany Sporting director believes Hansi Flick has brought ‘unity’ to Barcelona | OneFootball

While many can argue who the best player for FC Barcelona has been this season, other things remain less debatable. Players aside, the best signing that the Catalan giants ended up making this season was Hansi Flick. By appointing the German tactician as the new Barcelona head coach, the club managed to fully unlock their squad as well.

As more time passes, it becomes clear that Flick’s tactical understanding of the game is truly on a different level. It is mainly thanks to his tweaks and man-management that the team has been playing as effectively as it has so far this season.

However, there appears to be a man who never seemed to doubt the capabilities of Hansi Flick because of their past together. As highlighted by MARCA, former sporting director of the German Football Federation (DFB), Oliver Bierhoff, recently praised Hansi Flick’s work and believes that he brings a sense of ‘unity’ to the team:

“In my opinion, he brings unity to the club, a sense of community. The club acts like a family and bets on youth development. Barcelona is almost forced to rely on La Masia players due to financial pressure. All of this plays in Hansi’s favor.”

As for his own opinion over Flick’s progress so far, the former German striker remains more than convinced:

“(I am) very happy with Hansi Flick’s success so far.”

Bierhoff even highlighted the new Barcelona coach’s extreme work ethic and just how seriously he takes his duty and obligations to any team he coaches by recounting his last call to him:

“The last time I called him was at 6:30 in the morning, and he was already at the training ground. That shows how much he enjoys the job.”

Previously, it was Bierhoff himself who recruited Hansi Flick for the German National team. That decision in itself showcases the faith he has in the abilities of the current Barcelona head coach and it only goes on to show the respect and admiration that many people hold for the former Bayern Munich coach as he continues to even get the blessings of former Barcelona icons.
