It would seem that it is only a matter of time before Jack Grealish leaves Manchester City. The England international was left out of Manchester City’s travelling squad for their 3-nil friendly win over Palermo. The bigger question appeared to be where Grealish would play his football at the end of the summer transfer window. A suitor has reportedly emerged as the favourite to sign Jack Grealish on loan for next season. That club is Everton. It is a move that makes sense for Grealish as he bids to remain in contention for England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Paul Joyce has reported for The Times that Everton is eager to sign Jack Grealish on loan for next season. Furthermore, Joyce reports that Manchester City and Everton have discussed the parameters of a loan deal for Jack Grealish. Joyce has further revealed that Manchester City is hoping to recoup as much of Jack Grealish’s £300,000 per week wages as possible. Lastly, Paul Joyce reports that David Moyes’ side are hopeful that Jack Grealish will be eager to join them.
It is apparent now that Jack Grealish doesn’t have a role to play in Pep Guardiola’s squad. The decision to leave the England international out of Manchester City’s travelling squad for their victory over Palermo was telling. It proved that Grealish is surplus to requirements at the Etihad. In fact, the sooner he can find a summer move, the better.
A move to a club like Everton does make sense for Grealish. If the move comes to fruition, he’d likely assume a prominent role in David Moyes’ squad. The hope would be that Grealish can revive his career with the Toffees. His career has stalled over the past two seasons. If he does move to Everton and perform well, it would give him the best opportunity to play his way into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Everton seem to have made their move to sign Jack Grealish. It now remains to be seen if it is a move that does come together. That answer should be revealed in time. The hope is that it comes together quickly so Manchester City and Jack Grealish can both move on.
