Marcus Rashford’s name has surfaced as a potential reinforcement for Barcelona’s attack, and two respected English journalists, namely, Rik Sharma (AFP) and Tom Allnutt (The Times), believe the Manchester United forward could be a smart fit under Hansi Flick.
Barcelona are weighing several wide attacking options for the 2025–26 season, including Luis Diaz and Nico Williams, both of whom could cost over €60 million.
In contrast, Rashford could arrive on loan with an option to buy, making him a financially attractive choice.
However, sources in Spain suggest that Rashford is not the club’s top target at the moment. Despite that, his potential move continues to generate interest, particularly from the English media.
Rik Sharma sees promise in Rashford’s arrival: “In theory, it can be a good marriage,” he explains.
“He is capable of high-quality actions but has lost his way a bit. He could cover for Raphinha or even Lewandowski, which is key since the Polish striker is ageing and you never know when time will catch up with him.”

Tom Allnutt adds: “When Rashford is fit and switched on, he’s still an excellent player. There aren’t many with his pace and ability to break lines so directly.”
Both agree that Rashford brings unique traits that could benefit Barcelona’s attack, especially off the bench or in rotation with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Still, both journalists raise important concerns. “His rhythm is off right now and his salary is massive,” warns Allnutt. “The big question is whether he has the motivation and consistency.
“Barcelona already have strong players in his position, and Rashford might not respond well to being a substitute. He is someone who needs love, confidence, and regular minutes.”
Sharma echoes the same: “Rashford could be a good impact player. He’s dynamic and has a great long-range shot when in form. The pressure at Barça could actually help him reset his career.”
